System Pressure Advisory - Hyder Mtn Rd - Boil Water Advisory

HYDER MTN AREA CUSTOMERS ONLY including SIDNEY LANE, FERNWOOD, TERRELL RD, HOLDER PLACE, BRIGADOON DR AND ROCKY LANE:

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW.

JSD is working to temporarily install a 2” water line in order to get water to our effected customers. This is a temporary set up and the flow pressure will possibly be affected. We are hoping to have this in place by sometime this evening, 8/18. JSD, our engineers and contractor are working on a permanent replacement of the 4” water line along the Hyder Mtn bridge. Due to lead times of materials and availability of special equipment to install the water line, it could possibly be next week before a permanent fix is in place.

JSD will continue to provide updates on our website throughout this process.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO READ THE FOLLOWING RE A BOIL WATER ADVISORY ONCE WATER IS RESTORED!! This information can be found here as well.

Area’s affected: All customers along and off of Hyder Mountain Road. This includes Sidney Lane, Fernwood, Terrell Road, Holder Place, Brigadoon Drive and Rocky Lane.

The water consumers of Junaluska Sanitary District in Haywood County are experiencing periods of low pressure and outages in the distribution system due to a water main break from the recent floods.  Periods of low or no pressure in the distribution system increases the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system. This does not mean that the water is contaminated but that the possibility exists.

Therefore, the Division of Water Resources advises that when water is restored consumers boil all water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.

This means that customers in the affected area should Vigorously boil the tap water for one (1) minute before consuming.

This office is strongly urging the water consumers to conserve water whenever possible.  This advisory remains in effect until further notification is issued. Please refer to our website www.jsdwater.org for further updates and notifications.
